In 1979 Myra & Company Salon opened in a small cottage with shag carpeting, a wicker couch, employing just Myra and one other employee. With passion, hard work- and some Irish Luck, the message quickly spread about the small salon’s cozy atmosphere, the operators’ talent, and professional service.

After visiting a spa in California in the early nineties, Myra knew that she wanted to create an environment that included relaxation and rejuvenation: how to feel happy and stress-free. The salon had outgrown the 800-square-foot cottage, so in 1996, Myra’s daughter Erica (barely two when the company opened) assisted her mother in successfully launching South Miami’s Premier Day Spa. Adding the 2000-square-foot spa facility has had numerous rewards: cultivating an incredible, caring staff and loyal guest base and creating positive solutions to the many unpredictable obstacles in life and business.

Then, in 1999, Myra & Company’s twentieth year, we added a 3000-square-foot foot salon, a movement studio, a cafe, and a gift boutique & introduced alternative medicine to the spa menu. The new salon was snazzy enough to be written up in American Salon and American Spa, yet the atmosphere remained comfortable and cozy. Although many were sad to see the original “love shack” knocked down, everyone settled into the newly expanded facility nicely.

Over the years, Myra and Company became South Miami’s one-stop beauty shop. In 2021, after COVID-19, Myra and Company downsized to a nearby 1200-square-foot space. Our new storefront sits on Dixie Highway, two blocks south of our original place. While we’ve eliminated some amenities, we’ve enhanced our service menu and increased parking. Most importantly, we’ve maintained our culture, offering head-to-toe beauty in a warm & professional environment.
